Image Wheel: Spin a Wheel of Pictures
Drop in photos of students, dinner options, characters or giveaway prizes, add an optional caption and spin. The winning picture appears full size.
Your pictures are never uploaded. They are shrunk in your browser and kept only on this device.

Build a picture wheel in under a minute
Add your pictures
Drag photos onto the box, choose them from your gallery, or copy an image and paste it with Ctrl or Cmd plus V. The food examples disappear as soon as you add your own.
Caption them if you like
Type a name under each thumbnail. Captions appear on the wheel and in the result, which helps when two photos look alike.
Spin and reveal
Press Spin. The winner is drawn with a cryptographic random number before the wheel stops, then shown large. Tick Remove winner to draw without repeats.

Ideas for a wheel of pictures
Pictures beat text whenever the audience cannot read, does not share a language, or simply cares about how things look. A few ways people use an image wheel:
- Kindergarten and early primary: a photo of each child to choose today's helper or who answers next.
- Language classes: vocabulary flashcards as pictures, and the student says the word that comes up.
- Food decisions: photos of restaurant dishes or home-cooked meals for a Friday night spinner.
- Gaming: screenshots of Pokémon, champions or characters for a random challenge run.
- Giveaways and live streams: product shots so viewers see exactly which prize is spinning.
- Family game night: a wheel of chores, places to visit or board games, drawn as pictures by the kids.
Your images stay private
When you add a picture, the browser reads the file locally, draws it onto a canvas no larger than 320 pixels, and keeps that small JPEG copy. The original file is not copied anywhere and nothing is sent to our server or any third party.
To bring your wheel back after a reload, the small copies are saved in this browser's local storage, which usually allows around 5 MB per site. Twenty-four pictures normally fit. If they do not, you will see a note and the wheel simply is not remembered.
| What happens to | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Your original photo | Read once in the browser, never stored or uploaded |
| The resized copy | Only in this browser's local storage, on this device |
| Captions | Saved next to the images in local storage |
| Removing an image or Remove all | Deleted from the wheel and from local storage |
Using photos of students? Because nothing is uploaded, the wheel does not create a copy of children's images online. Still check your school's photo policy before projecting faces in class.
Getting the best-looking slices
Each slice is a wedge, so the centre of the picture matters most. Square photos with the subject in the middle look best. With 2 to 6 images the pictures are large; with 15 or more they become small, so use close-up faces or simple icons and turn on captions.
Animated GIFs are shown as their first frame. Transparent PNGs get a white background so they stay readable on the coloured slices.
Frequently asked questions
Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
No. Images are processed entirely in your browser and never sent to a server. Small copies are kept in this browser's local storage so the wheel survives a reload, and you can delete them with Remove all.
How many images can I put on the wheel?
Up to 24. Beyond that, slices become too thin to recognise a photo. For bigger groups use the name picker or the regular spin-the-wheel with text.
Is the image wheel random and fair?
Yes. The winner is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues, giving every picture exactly the same chance, and the wheel then animates to that slice.
Can I add names or captions to the pictures?
Yes. Type a caption under any thumbnail. It shows on the slice when Show captions is on and always appears with the winner.
Can I remove a picture after it wins?
Yes. Tick Remove winner after each spin and the winning picture leaves the wheel when you close the result, so you can draw without repeats. You can also remove a single winner from the result window.
Can I paste an image instead of uploading a file?
Yes. Copy an image from a web page, chat or screenshot tool and press Ctrl plus V, or Cmd plus V on a Mac, anywhere on this page.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Tap the upload box to pick photos from your gallery or take a new one with the camera.
