How it works

How to play truth or dare with this generator

  1. Pick the crowd

Kids, teens, friends, couples or coworkers. Each deck is written for that group, so you do not have to filter prompts on the fly.

  2. Add players if you like

Type names and the highlight moves to the next person after every prompt. Names stay on this device only.

  3. Truth, Dare or Random

The player chooses, or lets fate choose with Random. Skip swaps the prompt without passing the turn.

Truth or dare rules everyone can agree on

Truth or dare is simple: on your turn you pick truth and answer a question honestly, or pick dare and do a small challenge. The fun comes from the group, so agree on a few ground rules before the first round.

  • Anyone can pass. Decide up front whether a pass costs anything, such as answering the next truth instead.
  • No dare that could hurt someone, break something or embarrass a person who is not playing.
  • Phones only come out when a dare says so, and nothing gets posted without the person agreeing.
  • What is said in truth stays in the room.
  • With kids, a grown-up has the final say on any dare.

Which deck fits your group?

Each crowd has its own deck so you can match the mood without reading every card first.

Ideas to keep the game going

  • Double dare: a player who refuses a dare can pass it to anyone, who then does it with them.
  • Truth chain: after answering, the player asks someone else a follow-up question.
  • Lightning round: use Random only and give each player ten seconds to start.
  • Team mode: split into two teams and score a point for every completed dare.
  • Video call version: stick to the office or friends deck and skip dares that need props.

The prompts are a starting point. If something does not suit your group, tap Skip and move on. That is what it is there for.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this truth or dare generator free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit on rounds. Everything runs in your browser and the player names never leave your device.

Are the questions appropriate for kids?

The Kids and family deck was written for children from about age 6, with gentle truths and silly dares that are safe indoors. There is no romance, alcohol or anything risky in it. A grown-up should still keep an eye on the game.

Are there dirty or drinking questions?

No. Every deck is clean. The couples deck is romantic but not sexual, and no deck asks anyone to drink. That keeps the game fun for mixed groups and easy to share.

Will the same question come up twice?

Not until you have gone through the whole deck. Prompts are dealt from a shuffled deck for each crowd and type, and the deck is reshuffled only when it runs out.

How does the player turn order work?

Add names under the crowd buttons. The highlighted player is up. After each prompt the turn moves to the next player in the order you added them. Skip changes the prompt but keeps the same player.

Can we play truth or dare at work?

Yes. Use the Office icebreaker deck. It sticks to hobbies, habits and harmless confessions, and the dares can be done at a desk or on a video call.

Can I use my own questions?

Not in this tool yet. Put your own truths and dares on the spin the wheel tool instead and spin it for each player.
