Why start from a template
Which wheel should you use?
Templates are best when the choices are predictable: chores, prizes, workouts or date ideas. When the entries are your own names or photos, a dedicated tool saves time.
| If you need to | Use | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Hand out prizes at a booth, shop or stream | Prize wheel | Remove-winner mode matches your stock, with advice on fair odds |
| Split housework between kids or roommates | Chore wheel | Kid-friendly and shared-flat lists, each chore given out once |
| Pick a random person from a list of names | Random name picker | Paste a class list or a group of friends and draw a name |
| Answer one yes or no question | Yes or no wheel | Type the question, spin, get a clear answer |
| Decide what to eat | Random food picker | Dishes and cuisines ready to spin |
| Spin photos, logos or products | Image wheel | Each slice shows a picture instead of text |
| Anything else | Spin the wheel | A blank wheel with weights, colours and fullscreen |
How to customise a template without breaking it
A wheel works best with roughly 6 to 16 slices. Fewer feels predictable; more and the labels get too small to read on a phone. If your list is longer, split it across two spins or use the name picker.
- Keep labels short. Two or three words read well on every slice; long phrases get cut off.
- Add an entry twice to make it twice as likely. It is the simplest way to weight a wheel and everyone can see it.
- Turn on Remove the winner after each spin when every entry should come up only once, such as chores or limited prizes.
- Open in full editor when you need exact percentages, your own colours or a fullscreen view for a projector.
- Copy the share link after editing, so the people you send it to see your version, not the original template.
Are template wheels fair?
Yes. Every slice on a template is the same size, so each entry has the same chance. Where the wheel stops is decided by your browser's cryptographic random number generator, the same kind of randomness used for security keys, and nothing is sent to a server.
The spinning animation is only there so everyone can watch the result arrive. The outcome is fixed by the random draw, not by how long you hold the button or which device you use.
Frequently asked questions
What is a wheel template?
A ready-made spinner wheel with entries already filled in for a common job, such as handing out prizes or sharing chores. You can spin it straight away or edit it first.
Can I change the entries on a template?
Yes. Rename, add, delete or shuffle entries right on the page. Your version is saved on this device, and Reset to template restores the original list.
Are the results really random?
Yes. Each spin uses your browser's cryptographic random generator and every slice has the same chance unless you set custom odds in the full editor.
How do I share a wheel with friends?
Press Copy share link on any template. The link carries your current list, so anyone who opens it gets exactly the same wheel, no account needed.
Can I make one entry more likely than the others?
Add the entry more than once, or open the wheel in the full editor and give each entry its own percentage. In the full editor the slice size follows the odds.
Is there a template for something not listed here?
Start from a blank wheel with Spin the wheel and type or paste your own entries. You can save the link to reuse it like a template.
