What is a Random Name Picker?

A random name picker is an online tool that selects a person at random from a list of names you provide. Also known as a name picker wheel or wheel of names, it spins a colorful wheel and stops on one name, making the selection completely fair and unbiased. Teachers use it to call on random students, event hosts use it to draw raffle winners, and team leaders use it to assign tasks without favoritism.

Configurable probability for the wheel

Use configurable probability when some choices should have a higher or lower probability than others. Each probability value changes the size of that wheel segment and the probability of being selected.

Leave probability fields blank for equal probability. If you enter a custom probability, the total probability must add up to 100% before the wheel can spin.

Your spin history is saved locally in this browser so you can review recent results. You can clear the local history at any time with the Clear button.

How to Use the Random Name Picker

Simply type each name into the input field and click Add. Once all names are entered, press the Spin button and watch the name picker wheel rotate. When it stops, the randomly selected name appears. You can spin again as many times as you like, or use the share feature to send your name list to others.

Why Use Our Random Name Picker?

Our random name picker uses cryptographic randomness (Web Crypto API) to guarantee every selection is truly fair. Unlike basic random student pickers, there are no patterns or biases. It works on any device, requires no account, and your name list never leaves your browser — complete privacy for sensitive selections like classroom attendance or performance reviews.
